In times of emergency, every second counts.
The Harpenden Community First Responders (CFRs) are a team of trained volunteers who provide immediate assistance in life-threatening situations. They have been trained by the East of English Ambulance Trust to provide Basic Life Support (BLS).
BLS is a level of emergency care used for patients with life-threatening illnesses or injuries until they can receive full medical care from advanced life support providers.
The Harpenden CFR team receive basic initial funding from the East of England Ambulance Trust. But the funds are limited and that means we rely heavily on donations from our local community.
This year, our aim is to to raise £10,000 to purchase two complete emergency kits, which include AEDs, oxygen saturation monitors, and oxygen delivery systems. These kits will enable all three Harpenden CFRs to volunteer across Harpenden and surrounding villages.
